These were the death references in the latest Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer

Death tends to be a taboo subject, in general, and even more so if we’re talking about video games whose audience is, in part, children, although it wouldn’t be the first time that Game Freak has talked about the subject in some of its titles.

Well, one of them is Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the first open-world game in the series that will be coming to Nintendo Switch on 28 January 2022. It turns out that in its latest trailer, shown during the last Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company emphasised one of the things that surrounds the Ghost-type: death. Basculegion, the new Basculin evolution in the Hisui region, is the result of the souls of Basculin that failed to survive the strong currents fused with Basculin that did, making it a somewhat sinister Pokémon, as it is basically the union of dead Pokémon.

It is also mentioned that Wyrdeer, Stantler’s new evolution, is a Pokémon whose fur is highly prized, which indirectly means that it is often hunted for clothing and other items, leaving the door open for them to do the same with other similar Pokémon.
