Take-Two sues project that allowed GTA titles to be played on Nintendo Switch

Following rumours of GTA games coming to Nintendo Switch, we now have a slightly different piece of information related to the franchise. Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two, has issued a lawsuit against programmers of a project known as re3, which allowed titles such as Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to be played illegally on Nintendo Switch.

The legal action they have taken is against the 14 programmers of this project. They have been registered by Take-Two’s Manhattan-based firm Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp in the Northern District of California. With this, they hope to have an injunction and a trial of their own to stop this project outright.

“Perhaps most notably, Defendants claim that their derivative GTA source code allows players to install and run the Games on multiple gaming platforms, including those on which the Games have never been released, such as PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch,” the lawsuit reads.
