Nintendo shares official statement on whether a “Switch Pro” exists

You probably remember that Nintendo recently made a statement on whether a Nintendo Switch Pro was real or not, after numerous rumors circulated ahead of E3 2021. The information was shared at the most recent meeting with Nintendo shareholders, and today we get the full official statements translated into English by Nintendo itself thanks to the publication of the corresponding report.

In them, we can know a longer and more accurate answer about what the company currently thinks about all these rumors, which even caused them a drop in shares after E3 2021. We leave you with the message shared at the meeting:

Question: Splatoon 3 was announced during the Nintendo Direct in February this year, which supports the idea that the Nintendo Switch platform will continue to operate. On the other hand, there were some media reports that a new model would be announced in June at E3, although in the end there was no announcement of a new model at the Nintendo Direct E3 2021. What do you guys think about these kinds of reports about a new model?

Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo: We use Nintendo Direct to communicate information about individual products to our consumers at appropriate times. In the future, Nintendo will continue to focus on delivering our unique and original brand of gaming, leveraging the dedicated integrated hardware and software video game platform to deliver fun and grow our business. To this end, we are constantly working on the development of hardware, software and accessories, but I cannot comment on specific products that are in development.
