Sonic Team shares the approach they are taking to the new Sonic game for 2022

The secrecy about the new Sonic game for 2022, despite some rumors, makes every statement coming from its developers very interesting. Today we get new words that certainly prove it.

In a recent meeting with Game Informer, Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka has spoken out about this mysterious project and what they hope to offer with it. Here’s what he had to say:

I thank you for being so patient. Since the launch of Sonic Forces, Sonic Team in Japan was testing many different approaches to delivering a next-generation Sonic experience. As we celebrate 30 years of Sonic titles and think about what the modern gameplay experience for a Sonic title should be, we also needed to think about what path we should take for the next decade. There are a lot of things I can’t talk about yet, but we are working hard on the title. We hope to be able to share more information about this title in the future.

I can’t say much about this title yet, but I think we will see a breakthrough in what a modern Sonic game can be. Of course, we won’t deny the high-speed action that characterized previous modern Sonic games like Sonic Generations or Sonic Forces, but we will create a title that our current fans and new players will enjoy.
