Interesting sales data from Japan has been shared this morning. In this case, they focus on updated figures for Nintendo Switch and its success in the country.
Here’s the confirmed information:
- Nintendo Switch has now surpassed 20 million units sold in Japan since launch.
- Between launch and May 30, 2021 (222 weeks in total), Nintendo Switch sold 20,018,278 units in Japan
- Sales by model:
- Nintendo Switch: 16,168,420 units
- Nintendo Switch Lite: 3,849,858 units
- It is expected to surpass Nintendo 3DS (around 25 million units) and maybe even Nintendo DS (over 32 million units) if it stays on the market long enough and sales continue at this rate.
Finally, we have been able to find out the best-selling games of the console so far in Japan (physical format only):
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo): 6,778,146 units sold.
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo): 4,285,272 units sold
- Pokémon Sword and Shield (The Pokémon Company): 4,052,668 units sold
- Splatoon 2 (Nintendo): 3,868,221 units sold
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo): 3,844,200 units sold
