You probably remember that last night Mario Kart 8 Deluxe received a surprise 1.7.2 release on Nintendo Switch. This has really shocked fans, as no patches have been released for this title since 2019.
The most curious thing is that this update, unlike the one recently released for Super Mario Party, didn’t include any notable new features. It only fixed the following bugs:
- Fixed an issue that caused tournament points to be recalculated.
- Fixed an issue that caused the history of games with friends to reset.
After downloading the patch and seeing that there were indeed no other new features found at the moment, many fans have begun to speculate that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe may later receive a major update like Super Mario Party, which included new online features and more. Remember that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe currently stands as the most successful game on Nintendo Switch, so it would make sense.
As such, they believe that this 1.7.2 patch could be an update in preparation for future releases. Whether this is indeed the case is unknown, but what is clear is that it’s strange that these two issues have been fixed now, two years later, and nothing else is included.
Similar to #SuperMarioParty, #MK8D just got a surprise update (the first since January 23, 2019.) Although minor in nature, the full version 1.7.2 patch notes have been added to the top of the #SwitchHistory article we published earlier this month.https://t.co/sb6JfV0k5p
