Last February we got some good news for gamers eager for new games on Nintendo’s hybrid console. Thanks to the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu we learned that Compile Heart would be releasing the RPG Dragon Star Varnir on the Switch eShop this spring in Japan. Last week, however, we received news that Compile Heart announced that the Switch version of Dragon Star Varnir would be released through the Nintendo eShop today, May 27th, in Japan for 4,800 yen.
Well, we’ve got some news on that front. Idea Factory International has announced that it will be releasing the Switch version of Dragon Star Varnir in the West this summer. According to the announcement, a physical edition will be available through IFI’s online shop and Limited Run Games. In addition, it has also been reported that pre-orders for the latter will begin on June 15th at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.

Story
In a world where the bones of an ancient beast loom over the land.
The knight Zephy is part of an order whose function is to hunt down witches, people considered cursed for having given birth to dragons.
When he almost dies on one of these missions, two mysterious witches save him from the brink of death by feeding him dragon’s blood.
Thanks to their efforts, he is given new magical abilities and soon discovers that his fate is intertwined with that of the witches and reluctantly joins them to fight against an Empire that wants to destroy his kind, ruthless dragon hunters and a witch more powerful than any other.

Notably, Dragon Star Varnir was first released for PS4 in October 2018 in Japan, followed by June 2019 in the West. A PC version was released via Steam in October 2019 worldwide to very positive reviews. A specific release date for the Western release has not been announced at this time, but we’ll keep an eye out for any updates.
