2019 prediction backs up rumoured Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes

The Pokémon community has reason to be on the lookout this year, as next month marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the series’ first game on the first Game Boy, and Nintendo is expected to have plans to celebrate.

We may have merchandising and collaborations, but a portion of the community is in anticipation of a new game announcement, especially after a recent rumour from Spanish site Centro Pokémon claimed that sources close to the company confirmed that a remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is in development for Nintendo Switch, to be announced next month.

Of course, this is just a rumour and may end up being false like many others, but it’s worth investigating what else we have as a basis for assuming that these games really will be announced, plus recent practices from Nintendo and GameFreak indicate that the companies are interested in continuing to re-release their previous Pokémon games.

It turns out that fans on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit have found a post on 4Chan from October 2019 that had made three predictions: with the first one he got it right, accurately revealing Galar’s Mr. Mime form and evolution. He also didn’t get it wrong by detailing how the fossil Pokémon would function in Sword and Shield. His third prediction stated that a remake of the Sinnoh region would be announced in 2020, which didn’t happen, but many think this could be due to the unexpected crisis brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic.

This third prediction claims that these remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl would feature the motion capture feature that was introduced with Pokémon: Let’s Go: Pikachu / Eevee; however, this contradicts Pokémon Center’s rumour that the new Sinnoh remakes will not resemble the previous Kanto region remakes but will instead resemble the DS games.
