28 years ago today (27th April), Kirby made his videogame debut in Kirby’s Dream Land for the Gameboy. To celebrate, the official Kirby Twitter posted some special artwork of ‘Circus’ Kirby partying with a birthday cake – along with a black-and-white version of the artwork that you can color yourself!

Created by Super Smash Bros. producer Masahiro Sakurai himself, Kirby would go on to star in numerous platforming adventures and other spin-offs. These ranged from the bizarre such as Kirby’s Dream Course (SNES) to more modern hits like Kirby: Planet Robobot (3DS).
