In the last few days, data miners found something interesting about Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
According to data miner OatmealDome, Nintendo had encrypted the save data for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
This is probably because they want to protect it from cheaters.
Unfortunately for Nintendo, the encryption has been completely cracked by hackers in a few days, and they have even created a program to decrypt the saves.
But don’t rejoice too soon, though – the latest version 1.1.0 update has implemented some form of anti-cheat measure, meaning cheaters who go online could get banned.
