Last year, many expected the Nintendo Switch to surpass the SNES in lifetime sales.
This has finally happened after Nintendo published its fiscal earnings for the 9 months ending December 31, 2019.
Nintendo Switch lifetime sales are currently at 52.48 million units, as compared to the SNES’s 49.10 million units. The Nintendo Switch has also outsold the following consoles:
- Wii U: 13.56 million
- GameCube: 21.74 million
- Nintendo 64: 32.92 million
The next step is for the Nintendo Switch to overtake the NES, which moved 61.91 million units in its lifetime.
It’s just a matter of time that happens.
