Pokemon Sword And Shield Surges To No. 1 In Japan Again

Famitsu has released the latest weekly data for software and hardware sales in Japan, and as has been the case for the last couple of weeks now, Pokemon Sword and Shield are still on top, selling over 275,000 copies over the course of the week.

Thanks to Pokemon Day on February 27. Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition went up to No. 3 with 12,510 copies.

This is the third week the Switch Lite has outsold the Switch due to the short supply because of the coronavirus outbreak.

This is following from the games selling 1.36 million copies in Japan within 3 days of launch, which was followed by sales of over 380,000 the following week.

The next three positions are occupied by newcomers, with the PS4 and Switch versions of Bandai Namco’s tactical RPG SD Gundam G Generation: Cross Rays at No. 2 and 3 respectively, selling over 64,000 units and over 45,000 units.

Meanwhile, Vanillaware’s strategy title 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is in third place, with sales of over 34,000.

On the hardware front, the Switch is continuing to enjoy the massive surge in sales brought about by the release of Pokemon and has actually seen a bit of a bump from last week, moving over 186,000 units.
