Claim that the location of Pokémon Generation 9 may have been found in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Once again we have an interesting message shared recently that relates to one of the most prominent titles in the hybrid console’s catalogue. This time we’re talking about Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

The tweet below has generated a lot of controversy because it apparently shows what would be clues to future Pokémon locations, the place where the expected Generation 9 will be set. They show some screenshots of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl where a picture in question appears: it shows a landscape that has made us think of the following locations:

  • Italy, being a picture of Venice
  • Switzerland or France, as it bears a strong resemblance to Van Gogh’s painting “Starry Night over the Rhone”.

The fact that gondolas appear, and that France has already been an inspiration in the sixth generation has made Italy the location that has gained the most traction in fan commentary. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but we should not forget that Game Freak has already included hints of future regions in previous generations of Pokémon. Specifically, this has already happened in Generation 6, where Generation 7 was previewed as a “strange souvenir”, and in Generation 7, where Toxtricity Gigamax was shown on a poster.
