Pokémon Legends: Arceus was one of the main releases during the last Pokémon Presents, a video in which The Pokémon Company showed tons of details about this open-world title, which will land on Nintendo Switch on January 28th, 2022.
One of the new features shown was the Pokémon capture system, which for years has always been kept with the original essence, something that Game Freak wanted to innovate with Pokémon Legends: Arceus. In this case, it won’t be like in the past, where you had to randomly encounter a wild Pokémon, weaken it and throw a Poké Ball at it, but in this open-world game you’ll first have to look carefully for it, as it will appear on the ground and not randomly. After this, you will have to observe the Pokémon so that it can interact with you, analysing its character and looking for the best way to approach them, as they can take very different attitudes, from attacking you to trying to run away from you. You can then engage them in combat, going back to the more classic method of weakening them and then throwing a Poké Ball at them.
However, you can skip this step and throw the Poké Ball at them without fighting them first, although it will be more difficult to get hold of them and they are much more likely to escape and run away from you, so if you are very interested in a Pokémon, it is better to weaken it in battle first. This is essential for progressing in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, as completing the various Pokédex entries will give you access to new areas and the ability to rank up within Team Galaxy.
