Since The Pokémon Company unveiled the fourth-generation remakes for Nintendo Switch, dubbed Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there has been very little information about them since. This situation has generated various speculations, rumours and assumptions from the community until more details are revealed about their content or new features from the original Nintendo DS editions.
Therefore, the question arises as to whether the Pokédex will be one of those aspects that we will see exactly the same or completely modified. The National Pokédex was the original Pokédex for the fourth generation releases, but it looks like that won’t be the case this time around. This already happened with Pokémon Sword and Shield, as the developers couldn’t cope with implementing 900 Pokémon in the game, something that is likely to happen with Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl as well.
The result of this would be that we would see, overwhelmingly, original Pokémon from the Sinnoh region and without the ability to trade Pokémon with the eighth generation editions. On the other hand, it’s likely that if Mega Evolution is finally implemented we’ll also see some slight changes in this regard, although there are still many details to be confirmed, and until then we’ll only be left with rumours and speculation.
