Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope developers explain Rabbid Estela’s personality and more

One of the aspects of the Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope announcement that fans have noticed the most is the presence of Rabbid Estela as the main character. This fits in nicely with the galactic theme this sequel is getting, but many wonder why he has such a personality.

The truth is that the Rabbids’ personalities don’t match the personalities of the Super Mario characters they are inspired by, as is already the case with Rabbid Peach and Peach and the rest of the characters. Well, a similar development process seems to have been followed with Rabbid Estela.

In a recent interview with Meristation, Davide Soliani, the game’s creative director, had this to say about the character’s personality:

As in Kingdom Battle, the Rabbids have traits, personalities and costumes inspired by the Nintendo character they refer to. But obviously they develop their own personality, sometimes very crazy, bordering on clichés, which of course makes them absolutely peculiar. In the character creation process of Sparks of Hope, we gave a lot of importance to Rabbid Peach.

So we added some characters that could fit in with her to keep things interesting. Rabbid Estela was one of them. We wanted to give her a different personality, and that’s why in the trailer we added a rather humorous, passive attitude that contrasts with the other characters.
