Nintendo explains how Switch’s success may challenge what is a console’s lifecycle

Interesting details are coming back from Fast Company. This media has recently had the opportunity to interview Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, and Nintendo of America’s president, Doug Bowser, and the meeting has left us interesting details.

On this occasion, through Furukawa, we have learned that Nintendo did not expect the boom in sales that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has meant. As a result of this, they have also had to reflect on the life cycle of Nintendo Switch.

These were the words shared:

Furukawa: To a certain extent, we had a certain expectation that sales of New Horizons would go well. But, last year, just before the launch, we saw that the sales pace of this title was very fast. And that’s something we didn’t anticipate.

Bowser: Switch after four years is still going strong, something that really defies what a video game console life cycle can be.
