New glitch in Animal Crossing: New Horizons affects neighbours entering and leaving our island

We bring you information about a new and important glitch related to one of the most important features of Animal Crossing: New Horizons: the entry and exit of neighbours to and from our island. This glitch has been found in the latest free update of the game, released last week.

Apparently, the glitch is only related to the neighbour check-in and check-out feature, and specifically results in the following:

Available empty lots left by neighbours now remain empty for more than a day on some islands. This could be a change made on purpose by Nintendo to give players more time to search for another neighbour on mysterious islands, but it seems to be happening only to some players.
For other players, they have been stuck with the sold plot sign for several days until the neighbour has finally arrived on the island.
Other players claim that a neighbour has been stuck in boxes for several days and never ends up leaving, every day he is in boxes.
As you can see, it seems to be a bug related to neighbours coming in and out of our island. We will stay tuned to see if Nintendo will solve these problems.
