As the popularity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons increases, the demand for popular villagers such as Dom, Audie, and Raymond have shot through the roof.
It isn’t uncommon to see some hackers and other players trying to “sell” these villagers in exchange for real life money. Dom, one of the most popular villagers in the game, is currently selling for 5000 yen (USD46) in Japan.
As a result, J-Cast News has decided to ask Nintendo what they thought of the matter. Nintendo’s public relations spokesperson confirms they are well aware of what is going on, and warned that reselling in-game items or villagers for real currency is against their terms of service. The company is considering to take action against one of the sellers of Dom in J-Cast News’ story.
