During the 80th annual general meeting of shareholders, an investor asked Nintendo about the Joy-Con drift lawsuit in the west, and how easily Nintendo Switch network services go down from time to time.
Concerning Joy-Con drift, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa apologized to customers for the issues they have faced, and confirmed that the company continues to improve their products. However, as for the Joy-Con drift lawsuit that is still ongoing, he could not comment on it at this point of time.
Furukawa also spoke about the fragility of Nintendo’s network services. He noted that the servers tend to go down whenever there is a “huge rush” of traffic caused by timed events and new content releases. While the company does prepare additional resources for such events, sometimes these resources may not be sufficient to prevent the server from going down. Furukawa says Nintendo will try their best to work on preventing such events from happening again.
