Chinese conglomerate Tencent has become the largest shareholder of Japanese video game publisher and developer Marvelous Games, which is responsible for IPs such as Story of Seasons and Rune Factory.
Through its subsidiary Image Frame Investment, Tencent acquired about 20% of Marvelous Games, thus becoming its largest shareholder. The purchase will help boost Marvelous Games’ capital during these uncertain times, and will help boost Tencent Games’ portfolio.
