For many Animal Crossing: New Horizons players, the new cat villager Raymond has been highly sought-after – so much so that entire black markets have spawned around players trying to obtain him. With some folks sacrificing hundreds of Nook Mile Tickets and Millions of Bells just to get their hands on the stylish cat, one hacker of the game finally decided to tackle the situation head-on.
PokéNinja, a gaming content-creator, recently decided help many eager folks get Raymond on their own island. With the help of a save editor, he was able to hack as many Raymonds as he wanted onto his island – before sending out a calling card on Twitter to those wanting the cat. Within 12 hours, he received around 50 requests to visit him for Raymond.

In a private conversation with Polygon, PokéNinja explained his reasons for helping out complete strangers online. In particular, he just felt concerned about those that did not have the resources to chase after Raymond:
“When you’re a father and you see certain things happening,…it hits a little differently sometimes.”
“I kind of envision these kids begging their parents for the most popular villager in the game, and I know there are many parents (especially now) that simply can’t afford to do that.”
Of course, PokéNinja isn’t entertaining further requests for Raymond right now – but he has since stated that he is thinking about doing more Raymond giveaways in the near future.
What do you think?
Will you be cheering PokéNinja on?
