In an IGN interview with Animal Crossing: New Horizons director Aya Kyogoku, the director briefly spoke about time traveling.
Kyogoku believes that Nintendo has created Animal Crossing: New Horizons in such a way whereby players can enjoy the game without having the need to time travel.
She also mentioned that, as holiday events are tied to free DLC updates, time travel would be useless in some sense.
Here are her full comments:
“We believe that Animal Crossing is the type of game that is best played if it is synced to real-time because you are able to share that experience with your friends and family, and enhance that communication that you have with them in real life as well.
With all that said, I feel like we were able to create a game where users will be able to play and enjoy the game without having to change the system time clock.”
