Although the game is still a month or so from release, the official Nintendo.com page for Animal Crossing: New Horizons may have given us a hint about some post-launch support in the future.
Since the page went life, some have noticed that the ESRB rating for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has an “in-game purchases” label on the bottom.
As you could probably guess, this label is used by the ESRB to inform buyers if a game offers additional purchases such as DLC or microtransactions.
The most likely scenario, in this case, is that Nintendo is planning on releasing some kind of paid DLC packs for the title in the future.
Another notable Nintendo title whose ESRB rating contains the “in-game purchases” label is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which contains paid DLC in the form of the Fighters Pass and Mii Fighter costume DLCs.
We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
